SOFTWARE SERVICES
The BCIU's Office of Technology Services offers a variety of software services to school districts, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations. As an application service provider (ASP), we are positioned to offer our clients the ability to utilize state-of-the-art tools to meet their business needs by maximizing hardware usage through a shared environment and consortium software purchases. Each of the applications we offer is backed by a host of professional support services, including:
Support Center
- No limit to the amount of support provided via phone or e-mail
- A variety of training options included in annual support fees, including: individualized, group, on and off-site
- Application-specific user group forums offered annually
- Support on state and federal reporting requirements specific to each application offered, including: PIMS, PASecureID, “No Child Left Behind,” AFR and other financial reporting, PennData, tax collection agencies, and more
- Advocate for school districts and a single-point liaison with software and hardware vendors
- Standardized interfaces for third-party applications (Performance Tracker, Destiny, etc.).
- Custom report development using tools such as Cognos or Crystal Reports
Implementation Resources
- Comprehensive implementation planning, data conversions, on-site training, and consulting services by a team of experienced specialists, analysts, and developers
- Application configuration assistance with all components and tools
System Administration
- Configuration, procurement, installation, and the ongoing administration of all required systems hardware, operating systems, and database software
- Application hosting
- Application Service Provider (ASP) allows access to our applications without the need to install any hardware or software at the district/agency, other than a typical desktop computer
- Database administration, release upgrade installation, and telecommunication support
- System backup/recovery
