ASSESSMENT ANCHORS/Adopt-an-ANCHOR

The Mathematics and Reading Assessment Anchors are tools developed to design the PSSA, to connect the PSSA to classroom practice, and to clarify the Pennsylvania standards in reading and mathematics. The anchors target the comprehension skills for students in grades 3-8 and grade 11.

Assessment anchors strive to provide clarity, focus, alignment, grade appropriate skills, curricular flow, rigor, and manageability. Each reporting category provides sample items and also contains assessment anchors that are further broken down into eligible content. The Adopt-an-Anchor initiative provides a framework for incorporating the reading and mathematics anchors across all content areas.
